The University of Georgia's Small Business Development Center was ranked as one of Georgia Trend magazine's 2016 "Best Places to Work in Georgia," according to a University of Georgia press release.
The center was ranked based on its employees' views on leadership and planning, corporate culture and communications, role satisfaction, work environment and overall engagement, according to the release.
The Small Business Development Center has 17 locations on university campuses across Georgia and works with nearly 4,000 business owners and entrepreneurs each year, according to the release.
In the past five years, the center has helped small businesses create nearly 11,000 jobs, acquire more than $600 million in expansion and start-up funds and earn $8.9 billion in total sales, the release said.
"Typical of UGA's outreach programs, Small Business Development Center staff are recognized statewide for their expertise and responsiveness to local needs," said Jennifer Frum, vice president for public service and outreach, in the release. "It isn't surprising that this UGA unit was named a great place to work. UGA's strong commitment to outreach has helped build an environment for success."
